About Georgia Tseri

Georgia Tseri was born in Athens, Greece in 1967. She graduated from Athens University’s Department of Graphics and Applied Arts, specialising in textile design and painting. She has worked as a freelance interior designer and children’s art teacher, and has been employed for many years by the municipality of Kythera, the Greek island on which she lives, as arts coordinator, administrator and consultant. In 2007, Tseri launched a gallery on Kythera, “Follow Your Art”, showcasing Greek and international artists and projects.

Georgia Tseri’s recent work reflects her interest in Japanese calligraphy, particularly the Butoh school. She has focused on the use of ink and wax as primary media because the immediacy of the gestures reflects her faith in instinct rather than reliance on intellectual determination to express what she sees as the spiritual dimension of art. As she says, “What interests me in painting are the figures, the exploration of existence, of man’s journey of life through to death.”
